Included along with it was something just as wonderful. A typewritten poem about the lonely perils that the month of February brings.
It’s a difficult time of year for many. We’ve been worn thin by winter and spring has yet to start arriving.
I enjoyed the poem so much I knew I wanted to collaborate with it in some way. This is me trying.
Transcription below:
February has
No reason but for winter
To linger too long
Longing longing long
Long to see the sun inspire
Spring to come along
Maybe if I learn
To speak another language
The dreams will make sense
...and stop rhyming.
In what language, tongue,
or structure do you dream?
My dreams are caught in journaling
It may be too late for Portuguese
For such an old soul to learn
Portuguese now could be quite challenging
But what about French?
P.S. - I’m excited to announce that I’m now offering curated collections of collage materials in my shop. Each grab bag contains 2 dozen pieces of source material from my personal collection of vintage ephemera, as well as my own hand-made collage papers. No two are a like. You can find them here.
P.P.S. ICAD Day 269-271 - all the collages featured throughout this post are available for purchase here.
Wow!!! Absolutely love the typewriter quilt! Gorgeous! Beautiful writing and collages. There is hope in humanity, I know there is!
February is the longest freaking month. February is liminal. It's torture actually 😫
