That’s a great way of looking at it! I find that, for me, it’s not so much a experience of blankness but moving towards a feeling of wholeness, a stilled sense of completion. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. Nothing needed.
If you follow my work, you know that I walk in nature every day. Nothing more effectively clarifies my thoughts and goals. Walking in nature is a balm and a therapeutic.
Makes perfect sense, I’ve recently started running on this small nature trail, it really does make for a more enjoyable run than teh just looping around the park i used to go to.
For me though, that clarifying therapy, that nourishing balm, often comes not so much from location or context, but from process. That is, a way of doing things. A method. perhaps, a strategy. It’s most often the stillness I find at my workbench through the slow and careful approach of attentively making things.
Hi Duane, though with the constraints and other issues, I have worked some with finding my way with collages.
I finally have one that speaks to me, still among works in progress. I thought I might share it with you but I’m unclear how to send it to you.
That’s so great to hear! I’ll send you over a direct message and you can reply with a photo of it. I’d be delighted to see it.
This is an excellent point, Duane: "What if the process of making became a matter of following the silence."
That silence feels almost like a blank canvas without preconceived notions or interfering ideas. I like this way of doing things in my writing.
Thanks for sharing and I like that collage titled: "an inevitable rebalancing." Interesting.

Thanks again!

Trying to find the peace in a place is always the challenge it feels.
