Thanks Stella! I took out one of my cameras recently and just drove around taking random photos from the car. They weren’t very good, but adding gritty text can make a mediocre photo seem more interesting lol. Strangely enough though, since I got back from Kolaj Fest and since taking on the ICAD challenge, I find myself enjoying my digital work less than I used to. It’s the way it goes sometimes I suppose. Thanks again!
I really like these. Chosen colour palettes. Displaced text and imagery yet situated with thought to show the beauty of creativity, imagination in disorder. The beauty of mess and change is creating from within and watching what emerges. Especially seen through the lens of art and writing. I've felt that feeling of displacement, so the text (message) made sense.
Each card on its own is a story… the typed text adds an additional layer of texture without being a layer.
Thanks so much for this! Sometimes I think your descriptions of my work are better than my actual work, haha! I appreciate your kind words. When comes to some of these newsletters I try to make collagea within collages. Each can stand on their own and yet the also become part of a seamless whole, an amalgamation of something more. Some come together better than others. All in all I'm pretty happy with this one. Thanks again for your outstanding feedback! I always appreciate it!
You’re welcome. Thank you for your kind words. I don’t always grasp what the artist is conveying. What I do know is that I love art of all kinds. Even when it’s practice pieces. It teaches us as creative people to push past limitations. The text and displacement spoke to me today. I think you’ll see your own growth by the end of ICAD. Keep creating.
I completely agree! It the process more than teh product. The graft more than the thing crafted. The little glimmers of growth is what I’m loving about ICAD!
Thank you! So glad you caught that! One of my favorite thing to do when I'm working on collages is to look for what I like to call 'through lines', points of connection that tie together everything.
I love that, it is perfect, it really does tie everything together. I saw that little detail and swooned. I appreciate your bold compositions and exquisite attention to detail. I dabble in collage sometimes, and the serendipity and excitement of two separate elements coming together like that is indescribable and addicting.
You've explained it perfectly! Finding those through lines, those places where two discordant things seamlessly meet is overwhelmingly joyful. It's the thing that keeps me coming back again and again. It never gets old. I never get tired of it, and I don't think I ever will.
Another gorgeous set here, Duane. Loving the minimalist approach to the text treatment. Well done!

Love this! If only we could see that through the mess you can create change and something new... thank you for this uplifting message.
It’s the mess that makes beautiful things.
So good! The way you’ve matched the curve of the chair with the other image in the last work is Perfection!

I didn't notice this. I need to go back and check. Thanks for pointing it out.
I am glad I mentioned it ☺️
Me too!
